A Warning We Can´t Ignore

There’s a storm building in America. You can feel it in the air. You can smell it. It´s hidden in the rhetoric; they like that kind of shit. Camouflaged vitriol and hate, double entendre. You can see it in legislation, in school libraries, in speeches, in uniforms and flags. But many people, including some in my own family, still don’t see it for what it is. Or worse, they’ve accepted it.
And I want this to be on record: I saw it. I called it. I said something.
Because the world has been here before. And even if it is America, it can still happen. So if it happens it´s not because we didn´t know, it´s because we didn´t want to. And that is not an excuse when the killings and maiming and disappearances continue to happen.
The Early Signs Are All Here
We are witnessing the rise of something dark in the United States; a convergence of white supremacist ideology, political extremism, and public tolerance for cruelty. The signs are not subtle. They are clear, and they are multiplying:
Laws targeting immigrants, trans people, and other minorities, criminalizing identity and erasing visibility.
Censorship of books and historical truth. An education system re-engineered to avoid uncomfortable realities.
Dehumanizing language from elected officials and public figures, calling people “invaders,” “animals,” “illegals,” “filth.”
Militia groups and armed extremists who parade without shame, often emboldened by silence or political nods.
An erosion of truth, where facts are optional and conspiracy reigns.
This is not alarmism. These are textbook warning signs. The exact signs that have preceded historical atrocities across the globe. When people say, “That could never happen here,” I ask, “Why not?” Because America is not immune. In fact, it may be more vulnerable than it realizes.
The Infrastructure for Persecution Already Exists
Many Americans don’t realize this, but the physical structures needed for mass detention are already built and they are expanding.
Immigration detention centers, aggressively expanded during the Trump era, have held thousands of migrants and separated families - including children - for months at a time.
Private prisons, run by companies like GEO Group and CoreCivic, continue to operate across the country, profiting off incarceration and ready to scale. These are not speculative threats. These are systems already in motion.
And now, a brand new facility has been constructed in Florida. Clean, state-of-the-art, and massive in scale. They say it’s for “detention purposes.” But ask yourself; what kind of government builds new internment infrastructure before a crisis? What kind of administration sees the need to detain more people, more efficiently, with greater secrecy?
These facilities are easily repurposed. A single shift in leadership, or a manufactured emergency, could turn them into camps for mass internment of anyone labeled a “threat” or “other.” Don’t say it’s unthinkable. The cages have already been tested.
Thanks for Reading. Abrazos.
