HAPPY CREATIVE WRITINGS IN 2024🎞️🍿🎬

Well, I have to begin the year by writing my first post of 2024. This gives me the opportunity to wish everyone the best of creative juices and that hopefully the flow will not slow down a bit throughout this whole year. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

I went to bed early today, a bit later than 1 am, having finished watching a great action movie

- Extraction 2.

Damn, that was a good movie. It grabs you from beginning to end. Although I like the story, it is the camera work and the way the director decided to create and design the scenes that make the movie so captivating. This is what grabbed me in the first movie and now I got that same feeling in the second part. If you want to immerse yourself in a universe of pure adrenaline and continuous bad-ass action, then watch it!

So, I went to bed feeling nice and cozy, and during the night I had one of those clear dreams where my subconsciousness decides to whisper in my ear from far far away, ´Listen Diego, pay attention to this dream because in it you can find a good story.´ By now, when it talks to me like that, I listen. Well, it presented me with a plot, a location, a premise, characters with their strengths and weaknesses and perspectives, and even a title; EVERY DAY IN ONE DAY. It also gave me the idea of playing with time as the day goes along. A time-span that encompasses Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring again. All in one day. I know it sounds weird, but in my mind I saw it and it worked! Now it is just a matter of sitting down and writing it.

So, the way I see it, this is a very good beginning right at the start of the new year.

THE PROCESS OF WRITING

Living in a very different country and society like Japan, brings with it some difficulties when it comes to maintaining the creative juices flowing. In my experience, being able to go out, meeting a friend and having a cup of coffee and start talking about our ideas, our lives, politics, society, sports, or anything else, forms a big part of my creative writing process.

Now, the truth is, I am always writing. So I always find it amusing when my wife catches me doing this,

and she asks, ¨what are you doing babe?¨ Because she is always gonna get the same answer; ¨I´m writing honey.¨

I am very lucky. She definitely loves me and accepts me for who I am. I am constantly in writing mode. There is always a small part of my brain plowing through a plot, maneuvering scenes, thinking of alternatives, whatever. Where does the inspiration come from? From everywhere. It could be a random song I hear, a part of a conversation, something I read, a world event or my kid saying something inspiring. The creative process just continues.

I just wanted to share these insights in the hope that they can resonate with all of you, and to somehow inspire and give a ´soft pat on the back´ to everyone who has decided to follow this path. And so, to all of us that need to create like we need water or air to live, I wish the best of writings in this 2024.
