PLANET EARTH WILL BE JUST FINE

There is a movement that controls the planet today. It is one that demands 3% growth, quarter after quarter, year after year. One that is insatiable. 🤑 One that is built on greed. 🤑🤑 One that praises greed. 🤑🤑🤑🤢🤮

So when I read an article in The Guardian, regarding how healthy planet Earth is, well, our beautiful planet is not really in good shape at all. Us humans, we just no longer (for I believe we did a long time ago) have the ability to think in the long term. If we don´t get instant gratification, we don't like it. And that time frame appears to be getting shorter and shorter. This behavior is one of the results of that movement.

Since this is one of those topics that interests me the most, I actually decided to find the main report itself which is called, 2024 state of the climate report: Perilous times on planet Earth | BioScience | Oxford Academic. So, it looks really bad. And I hope I am wrong and everything turns out alright and humanity can find a technological path to solving our biggest problems. 😜😜😜 Yes, technological.

From Lex Fridman to Joe Rogan to Sam Altman and Elon Musk etc, etc… they are all yelling out loud that we should just allow the free market to find the high tech solution to all of these problems. This, they claim, would be nice and good for all, including nature itself and the few, last remaining species that we might still be sharing the planet with. The way I see it, humanity might find itself trying to survive on a dead planet.

Anyway, since this is such a sad topic, I thought to somehow try to make the mood a bit more positive by being a bit silly 😋😋😋 and using a current ´naming´ concept. We just love naming all kind of things, from movements to new generations to new technologies. For example, Occupy Wall Street, The Me Too Movement,  Chat GPT, AI, Millennials etc.

Well, what if a future alien species, thousands of years from now, lands on this planet and finds our remains? After studying, analyzing and figuring out what happened to us, and baffled by the incredible lack of foresight, prudence and love toward an incredibly generous world, they might just decide to name us. So, based on our stupidity, here is my contribution as to what those names might be.

1 - Another One Bites The Space Dust Era - Yeap, we just couldn´t hack it. 💩💩

2 - Another Dumb Ass Species Out Event - Dumb we were. 😂😂

3 - Oops, We Did It Again Age – Humanity repeated the same mistakes over and over until we finally hit the end. (You must read this one aloud singing the Britney´s song.) 🤭🤭

4 - Gone with the Space Wind – A fun, dramatic name, suggesting we got swept away by the inevitable forces of the universe. (Being a movie buff, I specially like this one.) 🌬️💨🍃

5 - The universe is not for Alpha or Sigma or whatever era... - The tough guy attitude does not cut it with nature. In this case, balance and caring and nurturing win the day. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

6 - The Era of Species Self-Destruct – Humanity’s final chapter, where we hit the self-destruct button without even realizing it. 😵😵😵

7 - The Space Darwin Award Age – The ultimate "Darwin Award" goes to humanity for managing to wipe itself out in spectacular fashion. 💀💀💀

What delicious cosmic irony. 😂😂😂
