SAKURA: IT IS FINALLY HERE!

Yes, Cherry Blossoms finally bloomed 4 days ago.

On my post #26 Cherry Blossom Beauty! , I talked about the uncertainty of this event due to, primarily, climate change. Global warming has assured that temperatures rise and fall, fluctuating in such a way that continuously gives confusing natural signals to the unsuspecting Cherry trees. Well, in that blog I wanted to focus on the uncertainty of traveling to Japan in order to catch the 10 days during which the beautiful flower displays are in full swing.

And ´uncertain´ it was! Professional forecasts - a serious business in Japan - touted ´Sakura´ to happen during the last 10 days of March 2024. Well, everyone was wrong. It actually happened on Friday March 29, 2024, after a heavy morning rain. Then, about 1pm the sun came through and the magic started to happen all of a sudden.

Beutiful Nakameguro

I can imagine many people traveling to Tokyo, longing to see and walk through Ueno Park or Nakameguro to surround themselves in the beauty of this majestic natural sight, and miss it. Well, it happens. It is a sad moment, but at least Tokyo is full of wonderful places to visit and incredible sights to be enjoyed. So, there is no need to despair. I am sure all visitors will get a kick out of being in Shibuya and walking its famous crossing while making their own video at the center of it all, or giggling at the sights of fashionable Japanese youth in near Harayuko, or feeling the wonder of walking the narrow streets of Akihabara while checking all the crazy, retro video game technology that can still be found there.

Harayuko

Akihabara

If you have the desire to come to visit Japan, I promise you will not be bored at all, despite missing the Cherry Blossoms.

Thanks for reading. Abrazos.
