THE WORLD ACCORDING TO BILLIONAIRES

The gilded age? Peanuts compared to today's billionaires. The present is a time where billionaires have more power than ever, shaping not only industries but our society, our politics, our thoughts. People like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg control massive companies, advanced technologies, and platforms that influence billions of people. But I don't want to discuss their wealth today. No, I want to focus on the kind of world they’re creating and who it's really for.
For example, Elon Musk’s idea of colonizing Mars. He says it’s about preserving humanity, but his behavior here on Earth tells a different story. If he really cared about humanity’s survival, or as he says, ¨…the long term survival of consciousness.¨ Wouldn’t it be a good first step to treat his workers - and their consciousness - better at all of his companies or maybe, just maybe, thinking of addressing issues like poverty and inequality that truly exist in our beautiful planet? Instead, his plans seem more like an escape route for the elite, leaving the rest of us to deal with the mess they’ve helped create.

Then there’s Zuckerberg - following Elon´s footsteps - who recently met with Trump, a figure that represents greed and divisiveness. These private meetings and strategizing makes it clear to me: the wealthiest people aren’t looking to share their power or build a fairer society. Their main plan is to use their resources to tighten their grip while ignoring the struggles of everyday people.
A Billionaire's Way of Thinking
Research has shown that the richer people get, the less empathetic they tend to become. It’s like their wealth creates a bubble, cutting them off from the realities most of us face every day. For billionaires, life is all about growing; more money, more control, more influence. It’s not surprising that they don’t see the need for change. Why would they? The current system is working perfectly for them.
But what about the rest of us? If we let them continue without a push back, our future could look very grim. Imagine this:
The wealthy, retreating to gated utopias with advanced tech. (Honestly, aren’t they already living like this? When was the last time you rubbed shoulders with one of the 2,781 of them billionaires?)
The rest of us, struggling with low wages, environmental crises, and limited resources. (Aren't we dealing with this right now?)
AI and high-tech systems are used to monitor and control us rather than making our lives better. (Tell me, you’re not surprised anymore when your thoughts seem to magically turn into ads on your phone?)
This isn’t some far-off dystopia. It’s creeping in right now. The question is: how much are we willing to let it grow before we do something about it?
Is It Too Late?
Maybe. Billionaires already have a ridiculous amount of power, and now, with AI in their hands, their control is only growing. Don´t believe me? Who really is in control of the government's powers today? Who is the next president elect? In case you didn't know, a billionaire. Let’s be real—they’re not working on ways to share the benefits of technology with everyone. They’re using it to tighten their grip, stay ahead, and keep the rest of us in check.
And if there’s no serious pushback, their vision for the future might just end up being ours. Do we want to live in a world where the richest call all the shots, and everyone else is left scrambling to get by? Because that’s the road we’re on.

A Call to Action
But we’re not powerless. Change starts by understanding what’s really going on and making sure we talk about it. We need to organize, push for fairer systems that spread wealth, and demand better rules for how technology gets used. And for those of you who work within these elite systems—the programmers, advisors, philosophers, scientists, ethics specialists and decision-makers—this is your chance to act. You see the greed and detachment firsthand, every day. This is your opportunity. Do not fall for their false promises. You have the ability to influence decisions, disrupt harmful plans, and fight for a future that works for everyone.
Billionaires may think they’re building a perfect world for themselves, but it’s up to us to ensure that humanity’s future isn’t left in their hands alone.
Thanks for reading. Abrazos.
