The Wealth Gap in American Democracy
In a democracy, leaders need to represent the people, understand their struggles and work to make their lives better. But how can someone worth hundreds of millions truly understand what it’s like to live on $50,000 a year? 🤔
But for the first time in American history, the majority of elected officials are millionaires. At the same time, 50% of normal, every day people cannot afford a $1,000 medical emergency. We would go bankrupt.
Look at some of the richest members of Congress: Mitt Romney, Mark Warner, Nancy Pelosi. They’re not just comfortable—they’re in a different universe. These people don’t have to think about how to pay their bills, what happens if they get sick, or how much college debt their kids will have. Trust me, they do not face these problems at all. 💰🤑💵
And yet, they make decisions that affect millions of people who do live like that. 😡

Out of Touch with Reality
It’s not just about money—it’s about perspective. When you’re worth hundreds of millions, healthcare isn’t a problem, it’s a “policy discussion.” 😒 Wages aren’t about survival, they’re a “labor market trend.” Sadly, for regular people, it’s life or death. For them, it’s numbers on a page.
A System Built for the Wealthy
Running for office isn’t cheap. You need money, connections, and donors. If you’re not already wealthy, good luck breaking into the system. 🙄 So we end up with lawmakers who don’t look or think like the people they’re supposed to represent.
And what happens? Policies that protect the wealthy sail through Congress. Tax cuts for the rich? No problem. 💸 Healthcare for everyone? Suddenly, there’s no money for that. 🤷♂️
A Broken Promise
This isn’t just unfair—it’s a betrayal. While Congress debates whether or not to make life just a little bit easier for the average person, millions are struggling. People are working two or three jobs and still can’t afford to see a doctor. 😔
And yet, Congress keeps spinning its wheels, completely disconnected from the reality of those they serve.
What Needs to Change
If we want a democracy that actually works for the people, we need leaders who understand what it means to struggle. Leaders who’ve lived it. We need to take money out of politics and open the doors for real representation—not just the ultra-wealthy. 😂🤣😁 (Ha! You think that´s possible?)
Because right now, the system doesn’t work. It protects comfort and privilege for the few while leaving everyone else out in the cold. 🥶
That’s not democracy. That’ s called bullshit! 🐂💩
