SORA AND THE SHORT HORROR STORY

On my post #20 titled ´My First Writers Workshop´, (CLICK HERE) I spoke about a project I have in mind to start filming this March or April 2024. It´s a short horror story, about 4 pages long, written for 1 character, and 1 location. A very simple story to shoot. That should always be a writer´s plan when he/she knows there is no money at all to bring one of their ideas to reality.
That´s why in the last 6 months, I have been doing a lot of networking by signing up to Facebook film groups, writers and directors groups, workshops, plus going to events, and film industry meetings. I do believe that there is always someone out there with the desire to develop and create an idea, and I am always more than willing to offer my help to accomplish it. In this industry, we all have to help each other. It works like this in New York, or in Bogotá, Colombia or in Tokyo. The amazing reality is that I have already found a nice group of people willing and ready to be a part of my project. From producers, to actors, to directors and editors, and people that have actually offered their equipment to make this dream come true. Thanks to all of them. Really, thanks a million.

ENTER SORA
Notwithstanding everything mentioned in the above paragraphs, two days ago I published another post where I mentioned SORA, Open AI´s latest tool.
(PLEASE CLICK THE LINK) (https://www.writinglifemovies.blog/post/you-better-remember-sora)
This is a revolutionary tool, text-to-video AI App, that will change and revolutionize everything that you have come to know and love about making movies. It is as simple as that. This brings me to this decision making moment where I have to ask regarding my short film: should I use SORA or continue with the pre-production and work it out the normal way?

It´s not an easy decision to make. This is definitely something that I will talk about with the people that I have already contacted regarding this short. The first thing I did was send everyone a link for them to watch and learn about SORA. I hope to hear from them soon, you know, get some feedback.
The truth is, I am going to wait until Open AI allows the masses to use this tool, to really experience if this technology is as good as it looks. After that, I will make my decision. But for now, the project is on hold. I hope everyone agrees with me.
It feels so strange to publish this post because of what it means; to have the power as creators, to film our own movie through an AI tool. Are you kidding me!!! At the same time, there is an ever growing stigma around creative types that decide to use these new tools. Like I said, it is not an easy decision to make.
Have you had a chance to see it? Please, go and check the kind of quality that you can get: the lighting, the colors, the style, the movement, many cameras, depth, VFX etc. All with a simple prompt. I have a feeling this is the game changer most of us script writers have been waiting for.
Thanks for reading. Abrazos.
