One Man’s Power Trip Is Dismantling American Democracy
You don’t need a degree in political science to see it. You just need a pulse and a little bit of historical memory. What we´re seeing in front of us is not just another messy administration, just like the first one we experienced. No, this one has a purpose and that is a coordinated assault on the foundations of American democracy. Somehow, we continue to treat it like just another political cycle.
The Most Openly Corrupt Administration, Period.
We’ve had corruption before: Watergate, Iran-Contra, backroom deals, and corporate giveaways. But what we’re witnessing now goes beyond corruption in the traditional sense. This is a ´my government, my empire´ attitude, where the lines between public service and private interest aren’t blurred, they’re bulldozed.
Our new president is a convicted felon who faced dozens of felony charges across multiple jurisdictions. Someone who was found liable for sexual assault and business fraud, yet got the go ahead by his followers, not in spite of all the negative traits, but because of it. Well guess what, this character is now monetizing his position as the most powerful person on the planet, accepting planes, selling his own crypto currency, giving out dinner parties with the highest bidders attending as his guests - just to get a glimpse of him, I guess.

His adult children, far from being detached from the machinery of influence during the first administration, were deeply embedded in government decision-making while simultaneously profiting off foreign trademarks, real estate deals, and access to power. And unlike past administrations, this was done in broad daylight, with little effort to conceal the self-dealing.
But here’s the real danger: corruption is no longer the side effect as it was the first time out. Now it 's the plan.
A Blueprint for Authoritarianism, Masquerading as Populism
The mission isn’t just about winning elections anymore, it’s about dismantling the institutions that guarantee a peaceful transfer of power, rule of law, and government accountability.
What follows are the facts:
Trying to overturn a democratic election? That’s a coup attempt.
Sending a violent mob to pressure Congress? That’s political terrorism.
Promising to jail political opponents, pardon insurrectionists, and “take over” the DOJ? That’s dictatorship, American style.
These are not hypothetical warnings. These were the promises that were made during the 2024 election.
In 6 months, the president and his allies have gutted the civil service, packed federal agencies with loyalists, and made the executive branch an instrument of vengeance. They openly advocate using the Justice Department as a weapon. They label judges and prosecutors as “traitors” and claim any ruling against them is illegitimate.
This isn’t draining the swamp. It’s flooding the system with gasoline and daring anyone to light a match.
The Real 'Enemy Within´
When a leader positions himself above the law, calls the press “enemies,” attacks the courts, undermines elections, and uses government as a personal ATM, then what you have is not a presidency. You have autocracy in progress.
America’s institutions are being attacked, not from some foreign enemy, but from within. And the longer we pretend this is just another crazy and wild and irreverent Trump administration, the closer we drift to something we’ll never be able to vote our way out of.
History will not be kind to those who looked away, or worse, voted for this to happen. The fact is, we won´t get a second republic. You either defend democracy while you still have it, or you live in whatever replaces it. And right now, the alternative on offer is a golden throne for one man and a cage in the infamous ´Alligator Alcatraz´ for the rest of us.
Thanks for reading. Abrazos.
